About Us: The Pony-O Story

THE PONY-O STORY

Hi! I'm Nicol, inventor of the Pony-O and Bun Barz. I have been inventing and patenting hair accessories for more than 30 years.

NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION

My first invention, the HairLock, was something I invented for myself in 1987 because I couldn’t stand to wear elastics in my thick, curly hair. This was before the Topsy Tail, or even the Scrunchie was around! There wasn’t anything else available on the market except elastics and bobby pins! I have a tender head: both gave me a headache and ripped out my hair. So, I just opted to wear my hair down.

After I graduated Fashion School in Toronto, my very first job required that I tie my hair back and out of my face. Unable to wear conventional and archaic hair accessories, I found a need (for myself) and filled it! The rest, as they say, is history. My latest innovation, the Pony-O, is something my partner, Beth, and I created. I feel the Pony-O is one of those rare products that can revolutionize the hair accessory industry.

Made by women for women

TRIED AND TRUE

Having spent years on the tradeshow circuit, I’ve had the opportunity to personally try my products in the hair of more than 400,000 women and children (and a few men). The one-on-one contact and feedback from each and every customer has been crucial to the development of my latest product line. I won’t put an accessory on the market unless it meets a very strict criterion:

  • It works on every hair type and thickness
  • Creates no tension on the follicle
  • Is secure, comfortable and non-damaging
  • Comes out of the hair easily
  • Leaves no ponytail crease
  • Is durable, outlasting and out-performing elastics

UNIQUE HAIR ACCESSORIES

The hair care industry is one where there has been very little innovation over the years. We, our daughters and our granddaughters, are wearing the very same accessories that our grandmother, and possibly great-grandmother, wore. Of all the products that we use on a daily basis, I can’t think of one that is exactly the same as when my mother was a child.

My unique accessories are patented worldwide, meaning they meet the requirements of a high level of innovation and creativity.

Patent protected

They will hold every hair type and thickness, without tension on the follicle! No pulling or tugging!  When you feed your hair through the Pony-O and shape it, there’s no constriction on your ponytail (which means no annoying crease). Fine hair looks thicker; thick hair stays in place! Pony-O literally feels like nothing in your hair! Open the Pony-O back into its circle shape, and it slides out without damaging your hair! It's one of the most comfortable hair accessories you will ever wear.

Shaping the Pony-OUNMATCHED VERSATILITY

Pony-O is versatile. It can be worn by women or children; it can be worn in any hair thickness; it can be worn in most hair lengths (at least chin-length for all of the hair up). It can be worn for work, or at the gym.

I have tons of easy hairstyling ideas for you, but the possibilities really are endless! Any style you can create or imagine using bobby pins, elastics, or bun forms, you can create with Pony-O, whether it’s classic, fashion-forward, or gothic! But…even if you only wear your hair in a ponytail, I promise it will be THE most comfortable and secure ponytail you’ll ever feel.

If you love to wear your hair in a bun, the Bun Barz is a must have! It meets all the same criteria as the Pony-O and is just as comfortable and easy to use, without bobby pins or elastics.

Why not give the Pony-O and Bun Barz a try today? Our combo pack has both, and will create any hairstyle you can think of! I think you will love my accessories! Say “bye-bye” to your hair elastics and old-fashioned accessories. Say “hello” to the new, revolutionary Pony-O!

Do you have questions or comments? I would love to hear from you!
